Codecs to enable iTunes to play .flac, .ape, and other format audio files?

Does anyone know if there are, in the market or developing codecs to enable iTunes users, to play such type files as .flac and .ape? I have several files of this sort, but cant "awe" myself with the purity of lossless audio from either file types.. thus far, I have had to suffice with mp3 or mp4 type files..Anyone??

As Limnos notes, you can get plug-ins that can play FLAC and others, but you will not be able to sync the files to an iPod or iPhone.

Depending on your usage, you may find it more trouble-free to use a conversion program such as Max or XLD to convert them into an iTunes-compatible format. Since you prefer lossless, choose Apple Lossless; there will be no degradation of audio quality.
