iPad 2 STOLEN!

Today my iPad 2 has been stolen.
I'm so distraught over this and there is nothing more that I want than to get it back.
I have already filed a police report but of course not much is gonna happen.
I tried using mobile me but it can find a location since it is a WiFi model.

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I CAN DO?

Alienware x15, Windows 7

A wifi model can use Find My iPhone as long as you turned on location services. My wife's iPod touch is wifi only and I can find it at MobileMe. But this assumes you added other protections to prevent the thief from getting into your iPad and turn off location services. I'm hoping you did have a passcode turned on. But whatever the circumstances, I'm very sorry for your loss - a heartbreak for sure.

You can turn the serial number into the police when you file a report (generally the police will ask for any information you have on the item, such as the serial number) and you can file a claim with your home-owner's insurance policy (or car insurance, if it was stolen from your car). However, there is no way for you to track it by serial number.

Car insurance doesn't cover stolen items. Homeowner insurance deductible may be more than what the stolen item is worth. If you do use homeowner insurance think about it, is it worth making a claim? Is it worth the chance being dropped by the insurance company after making a claim? (This applies to the US, other countries have different laws when it comes the insurance companies.)

If you do use your insurance company, don't call them. Read your policy first!
