Illustrator CS4/CS5 Clicking Select Object Freeze Pinwheel Bug

Hello,

An odd post this: I had a post from a year ago asking about this bug but didn't find the solution. That post has been archived, and I since discovered the solution, so I thought I would post it here:

My problem was in illustrator CS4 and CS5 that selecting any object would cause my Mac to briefly freeze up (pinwheel) for about 5 seconds. I tried reinstalling / even wiping the whole computer with no result.

But it turns out the problem was with another application I have installed: RightZoom, which alters the behavior of the green window button to make it maximise. Because I use it so much it is one of the first things I download and reinstall after wiping my computer... so I kept getting the issue. Telling RightZoom to not apply on Illustrator instantly solved the issue!

Hope this helps anyone else who had the problem!

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS!

Seriously this has been driving me absolutely crazy for about 4 months. Multiple rebuilds, re-installs, pref trashes, I cant even remember all the other BS I've been going through.

Right now I feel like a load has been lifted from my shoulders...

To add in the exclude list you have to choose the exact version you're running. By default it excludes Illustrator but that wont work, you gotta choose your version.

Thanks again 🙂
