iPad warranty

hi,

was wondering, if i buy a "new and sealed" iPad (1st gen) on eBay,

1. when the warranty starts? the moment i first plug it to iTunes or on the date the seller purchased it in a store or smth?

2. is the warranty transferable to me (the new owner)?

thanks

Hi,

The one year limited warranty begins when it was originally purchased.

I recommend you do NOT purchase a 1st gen iPad from eBay. Likely the warranty would be close to expired.
You can get a new one or refurb (full warranty, same as new) from Apple online store.

If the serial no. is available on the eBay add, you can plug that into the appropriate slot on the Apple Support website and see what the current warranty status on that piece of gear is.

I'm also thinking about buying a "new and sealed" iPad 2 from craigslist. The seller sent me the serial number, but when I plug it into the Service and Support page I get the message below saying: "Apple is unable to provide information about your service coverage. Please sign in with your Apple ID and provide your product's date of purchase so that we can display your coverage information."

The seller says the iPad was a gift from his employer and he does not have a receipt, and does not know when it was purchased. If I buy this iPad will I have problems with the warranty?

Thanks.
