Authorization/Deauthorization Problem, Please Help!

I think I'm having a problem somewhere in my computer setting. Yesterday I used the "deauthorize all computers" feature in my itunes account settings because there were a couple of old computer I never deauthorized before I got rid of them. It worked fine, all were deauthorized. However when I try to authorize my current computer, a message says "we could not complete your itunes store request. the itunes store is temporarily unavailable, please try again later." It also says this when I try to "check for available downloads" But the store is connected and running fine, its downloading music, logging in to my account, etc. When I look at my account it says i have the computer authorized, but only some of my music is playing. the rest of the music and all of my movies and apps keep asking for me to authorized the account. The deauthorization process is fine. when i do that i get a comformation message and my account removed the computer. authorized again and same as before, no conformation message, but shows up on account, same problem with content. I tried all of this on my parents computer and everything is going through just fine every time, authorize and deauthorize. Sorry to be soooo long winded but its getting frustrating.

That sounds like they were purchased with 2 different itunes store accounts. For something that works OK, right-click > Get Info. Look on the Summary tab for the "Purchased By" and "Account Name".

Compare that to one that does NOT play. Even if it is just the difference between and upper and lower case letter in the spelling. Are they exactly the same? Or different?

I'm having this problem as well..unable to authorize my iTunes account on my computer. Weird thing is that I have no problems if I authorize a different account. Authorizing my account on a different computer also works just fine. I've tried removing iTunes completely (with quicktime and all) and authorizing while my firewall is turned off. None of this helped and I still can't authorize my account on this computer.

Errormessage: "The iTunes Store is temporarily unavailable, please try again later."

I got this error when trying to download items as well but was able to fix this. It was related to Bonjour not starting up correctly.

OS is Windows 7 x64

I have been fighting with the same problem for a couple of months now. Anytime I try to authorize, I get immediately an itunes popup stating the the "itunes store is temporarily unavailable". I have tried everything suggested in the help sections. Removing all firewalls, all virus scans, removed the router to go directly to the modem, cleared internet cache and emptied windows software files, etc. No luck. I have a feeling it has to do with what ports itunes uses, but still can't find the exact problem.

I just resolved my issue with authorizing my computer. I had downloaded some digital copy movies to itunes. I could play them no problem in itunes but would get the cannot sync to ipod error that my computer was not authorized. I tried the deauthorize all computers and when i tried to re-authorize my computer i got the itunes store not available error, please try again. I ended up right clicking on itunes and running as administrator and then i was able to authorize my computer. I was then able to successfully sync movies to my ipod. I run Vista Ultimate 32bit. Hope this helps some people.

I have this problem too. My original problem started when I couldn't play any iTunes Movies on my iPad through Home Sharing.

I read on a different forum that the fix was to Deauthorize the computer then reauthorize. Simple enough. Except now I'm stuck with not being able to play anything at all!!!!

Talk about moving backward before you can move forward.

I'm on a Mac so the fix for Vista doesn't work for me.

Anyone else come up with something?

Ok, I just got out of the chat with Apple and they suggested a few things. I tried them all before checking so one of them worked, just not sure which.

1. In this order

Sign out of iTunes Store

Quit iTunes

Restart mac

Start iTunes

2. Restart Modem

3. Create a new user on the Mac you are trying to authorize

Log into iTunes on the other user

Try to authorize

When I tried to authorize at this point, it gave me the same error, but it's because at some point something clicked and I was already authorized, and it wouldn't let me do it again.

Hope that helps some!

@lukefromaledo:

Top man! that sorted it right out. Did a de-authorize all, then couldn't re-authorize my PC. I quit iTunes, run it "as Administrator" like you said and when I went to authorize it told me I was "already authorized", but everything now works, even after quitting and re-starting not as admin.

My guess, they get the authorize request and switch it on from their end, but some sort of key in the response cannot be saved due to file permissions, so can't be used to play DRM content.

Apologies for resurrecting the thread, but it took ages to find, so hopefully this'll help others.
