mouse won't open desktop files

Question

mouse won't open desktop files

Wireless mouse highlights desktop folder but won't open. Have to go to finder to "open". Mouse works as expected in dock. Have repaired permissions and repaired disk with original install CD. Mouse is still not opening folders.

PowerBookG4, Mac OS X (10.6), 10.6.7

Thank you for this advice! It worked. For a few years I had to use the Apple Key and"O" to open.

It was so simple. I have an attached mouse. When I called Apple support they ran me through various tests and couldn't resolve the issue.

I'm very grateful!

The difference is that the desktop folder open requires a double click, the rest of the functions you describe are all single clicks. Check System Preferences > Mouse > Double-click slider > make sure it's not to fast, slow it to 1/2 to 3/4.

This setting determines the time between clicks to determine if a double click has occured.

Lucy- go to system preferences- go to Mouse settings- put double-click at medium.

Worked for me.
