I used to use Stanza on the iPad for PDFs because they rendered very well and also rendered fast. I, too, find that iBooks renders PDFs very slowly on iPad. Since iOS5, Stanza no longer works, and I've downloaded Adobe's new PDF reader, which actually works nicely in terms of rendering, but doesn't allow for you to customize the title and author fields for easier sorting. Hope this helps.

Yes this is a huge conern for me as the PDFs (some of which are 100mb) are very very slow on my iPad. Any solutions by apple would be great
There is a new Stanza update in the App store. Version 3.2 dated 11/10/11
The App Store update says "iOS5 compatibility updates"
