I want at least a 256 SATA III(3)SSD for my 2011 15" MBP. When I order one, do I need to specify that it's for a Mac, or are they the same as for a PC?
I'm not an expert on this, but I believe that the MacBook Pro uses a regular SATA connector and the bay fits a standard 2.5" SATA drive. So as long as you buy a 2.5" SATA drive, you should be fine. Again, I'm not 100% sure so you may want to wait for a few more replies on here.
If you're thinking of SSD you should be in the market for either Intel or OCZ drives. The reason for this is NAND flash and trim support. Both are much further ahead of SSD tech.
