So I have a speaker charger that says every time when I plug my iPhone 3GS in "charging is not supported with this accessory". I can still charge my phone with it but will it cause damage to the iPhones battery? I don't want to screw up the battery

iPhone 3GS, iOS 4

Charging with a FireWire-based power source is not supported - except on original iPhone and iPod touch (1st generation). If you connect your device to a FireWire-based charger or accessory, you will see the alert screen.

It is best you choose an alternate charging source.
