iTunes Library (.xml) doesn't update

Hi, first of all, excuse me as I speak english so bad!
I've a serious problem with my iTunes, as I use his library in other aplications like "Itch Serato", "Traktor" or "Spotify", but until last december the library doesn't update his content.
In this way, when I use Traktor (dj aplication), I can't see the actual iTunes library, only can see the library from last december, no new music or new playlists.
It's for me a great trouble, as I used to use these playlists for my live dj sessions, because it's the most simple and confortable way to classificate the music in styles....
After looking for support any spanish forums, I browse in my ituneslibrary.xml and i saw that the archive contents any playlists from december that actually don't exist.

try this:

quit iTunes and move the current .xml file to the trash (don't empty trash yet).

launch iTunes and a new .xml file will be created (you may have to start playing a tune).

check if you now have access to the complete library in other apps, then empty the trash.

but now I feel really stupid...I'd move the .xml to the trash and empty trash o_O
now...is impossible for me to create a new .xml......it seems not to work....

As Jolly noted above, restarting iTunes will recreate the .xml file.

Perhaps iTunes is using a different copy of the main *iTunes Library* file than it would normally, e.g. one in the *Previous iTunes Libraries* folder. If so it will be updaing an *iTunes Library.xml* file there rather than where you are looking for it now. If in doubt, search your drives for all xml files modified in the last day.

I remember I had this problem once. I do not remember the cause, but, think it might have been some unusual characters in a itunes tag. I'd look back through your library at anything you have added since the xml stopped getting updated. You might have a character in one of the fields that itunes does not like

Thanks again for the support...
I'm looking for another itunes library.xml, and, anyway, I'm searching for all xml files, but the last files modified I can see was modified on September 30th!

I'm going insane!

The file I can see is modified by itunes is "iTunes Library Extras.itdb"....

Same here. I created a fresh library, added some songs, played some songs, but still no file is being created 😟. Even after starting and closing iTunes a few times.

Where did you create this fresh library? In that folder along with the file iTunes Library should be a file called iTunes Library.xml or iTunes Music Library.xml.

Actually, just after posting it, I found the error: a bad artist tag caused the xml creation to die silently. What did I do? I followed the steps in one of the links above, performing more or less a binary search over my library using playlists. So I copied one half of the library to a playlist, tried to export it as XML and when it succeeded I knew the other half of my library would contain the bad tag. Took me about 7 rounds to identify the song screwing up the XML export. After fixing it, everything seems fine now.
