Move to Trash deletes straight away

Is it just me or is it since the last update when you Cmd + Del a file it deletes immediately?

Previously the command was (and still is) labelled Move To Trash and not Delete Immediately...

I don't know about recent updates since I still run Tiger, but in Tiger command+delete just moves a file to trash and doesn't delete. However, I do recall that under certain circumstances (none of which I can recall right now but perhaps it was when working with a flash drive in FAT format), a file couldn't be moved to the trash but I'd get a notice it would be deleted immediately.

It's not the update, it's your .Trash...

Choose your Home folder "Get Info" (command-i) and be sure you have "read & write" in the Sharing & Permissions section. Check under "General" section to be sure it isn't locked. If that is correct, launch Applications/Utilities/Terminal and at the prompt copy & paste this command…
mkdir ~/.Trash
If you get a message that the folder already exists, copy & paste these commands...
sudo chown $UID ~/.Trash
Press return
Enter your admin password (it will be invisible)
Press return
chmod u+rwx ~/.Trash
Press return. Log out and back in, or restart.
