Powerbook G4 wont' boot -- won't allow safe mode either...

My powerbook G4 took a dump. When trying to boot it makes the start noise,the white apple screen appears, then it kills off and black screens.

I tried to get it in safe mode to clean up the drive space but it failed to do that. I got the powerbook to make the 3 starts noises (by holding down a few buttons) but would just cut to black same as before.

Any help out there?
