Locked out of Ipod touch

We have aquired a used ipod touch. It was dead and when I plugged it in to charge, it was passcode locked. Is there a way to restore the settings so we can use it or are we out some bucks and locked out forever?

try restoring it 🙂

connect to itunes, and click "restore" though the latest firmware out for ipod touch is 4.3.1

Sometimes a password is set so that after 10 failed attempts, it will automaticaly erase all settings and possibly including the password itself.

its not like BB where you have 10 guess, after that it all reset...

its differnt once it comes to apple, the device becomes disable for a period of time. this means that you will be stuck @ the lock screen with a picture and clock, until time of the disable is over

best way would be restoring the whole ipod.

Since it is a new ipod to me, my computer is not recognizing it and I am coming up with a connect error (0xe80000001)If I can't get the ipod connected to my itunes, I won't be able to restore it, will I? Is there a way around this since it keeps disabling the ipod? Is there another way to restore it?

i just tried to turn on my iPod touch and it didn't respond. so i waited and let it charge in my docking station but i just tried again and it still won't respond.
I then tried to hook it up to my iTunes but in iTunes it didn't show that my iPod was synced. i cant do anything with it because i cant turn it on can you help me?
