HOW do I delete stuff off my desktop?

HOw do I delete stuff off of my desktop? thanks

You select the stuff by positioning the pointer over the object and clicking and holding down the mouse button, and dragging the object to the trashcan.

You can also select the stuff by positioning the pointer over the object and clicking once, and then pressing a chord of both the command and delete keys together.

You can also select the stuff by positioning the pointer over the object and pressing and holding the control and then clicking on the object, and selecting "move to trash" from the menu.

There are other ways.

Caution

What is it you want to get rid off from your Desktop ?

Icons of your Hard Drive can be turned Off in the Finder's Menu > Preferences > General section.

Same for External Drives and Thumb/USB drives, CDs and DVD and some peripheral items like iPods or servers
Dragging these to the Trash normally Ejects/Unmounts them.

If by any chance you meant Move when you used the word Delete then use the Finder to open up the folder where you want to store the item. (Except Drives and Disk and things mentioned above)
