Guitar Rig plays in stereo, but will only record in mono.

Hi, I hope this is something simple. Here is my dilemma:

I open Guitar Rig and am using a preset where there are multiple amps and effects panned to the left and right channels. I hear it in stereo fine when playing and even when recording, I can physically see it recording in stereo. However when I hit stop, all the data on the bottom channel disappears, and I only get one channel. I have the track monitor ON and set to Stereo 1/2 (Presonus Firebox (1848)).

I'm obviously doing something wrong here. Can anyone put their finger on what it is I'm doing wrong? Thanks in advance!

Is the guitar plugged into both channel 1 and 2 of the presonus?

One guitar plugged into one channel of a interface with a mono cable will always be mono.

Hmmm.. This is interesting. No, the guitar is plugged into just the first jack. If that's the case, why can I hear the separate amps in stereo just fine when I'm not recording? Is there a way to arm 2 tracks simultaneously to capture exactly what I'm hearing?

What usually would happen is that your mono guitar would be recorded to a mono track and you would use a stereo effect. Even though you're imputing a mono signal it is being sent to a stereo out.

If however you did have a stereo input (having your guitar plugged into both channels 1 and 2) you could use a stereo track. But it won't make any difference because you have only one guitar and you would be recording two tracks left and right of the same signal.

Don't know how you were hearing a stereo signal when monitoring unless you were hearing a wet and dry mix.

Thats kind of what's happening here. Guitar Rig 4 is what is creating the stereo affect of one amp in the left and a different amp in the right. I can hear them fine when I'm playing, but when I hit record, I see it recording in stereo (an upper and lower group of sound waves) but when i hit Stop, the bottom group disappears, and Im left with only one amp sound and no stereo. I guess the problem might be with Guitar Rig 4 and not GB.

In GB chose a 'mono' input..1 or 2 depending on what you are plugged into....and record on a stereo track...
