Spam popups from unknown source

I keep getting pop ups from "QuickCreditScore" and can't find out why. I have never visited any sites remotely connected with credit scoring, and am very careful of all other sites I visit. In fact, if I think something may be dodgy I use my old Windows computer.
I have "Block Pop-Up Windows" ticked, and am getting quite annoyed and puzzled as to where these pop-ups are coming from.
How do I find out?
Any advice would be much appreciated.

That often appears as a 'pop-under' when visiting some sites - it pops up but behind your browser window, so you don't see it until you close the window, which might be some time later.

Sometimes this sort of thing can leave a mini-page running which you may not notice, and which then pops things up from time to time.

You should clear your browser's cache - command-option-E in Safari as a first step; closing the browser and reopening it may stop it, or a complete reboot may be necessary.
