Twitter for Mac - Apple ID bug

When I try to re-download Twitter for Mac. The pop up Apple ID account info shows but the problem is that a strange email ALWAYS fill my ID box, "tr33.heine@googlemail.com".
I delete it and fill the form with my own account info a couple of times. every single time, an error occur.
This happens only with Twitter for Mac, everything other app works fine.
This bug isn't the only one on Twitter for Mac. "Spaces" bug is extremely annoying too, but this is another story...

I have the same problem only with Twitter for Mac. A strange email: nicefright@gmx.de in the popup while I'm logged with my account.

I deleted Twitter for Mac and tried to download it again, but also if I'm logged with my account there is the same strange email in the box.

Also if I deleted the Application i still see it in the update list and in the badge counter.

The Combo update didn't fix it.

If you had more than one available update you could download them all. Twitter for Mac would get updated to the latest version, anyway it'll remain in the update list (badge), and it'll ask for the strange account to get downloaded.

I think you still see the application in your Purchased list, and you can try to install it from there, but, only for Twitter, it asks for the other email.

I don't think the problem is to update the software, but that it needs this different email/account.

I resolve my problem:

I tried to delete an application that I bought with a bundle but that was also available in the MAS. Then I open the MacAppStore and I noticed that there wasn't the update, so I downloaded again Twitter for Mac with my normal account.

I tried to move back the app that I deleted from my recycle bin to the App folder, I re-open the MAS and it didn't gave me any error or update.

Now, finally, it works!

Ok, here is my solution:

I have a german 10.6.8 and got the nicefright@gmx.de showed up in my form in the Mac app store. As I read about the captured facetime app I first started here and deleted it (it took me several times to delete, it nags me and ignored my first attempts to put it to the bin - very weird...). After deleting it I still have the "1" showed up in my app-icon but cannot load twitter from the MAS (I had no twitter app installed yet). Anyway, I tried to install it as it seemed to me an appropriate way to get rid of the indication but failed. It only accepts the above email nicefright@....

To be sure I pretend to buy another app and WHAM! my own email showed up in the form.

Now it´s clear without doubt: Facetime is cracked!

I am having this problem also. Getting the "nicefright@gmx.de" account.

I have never pirated any apps, in fact, the version of FaceTime I got wasn't even from the appstore, it was from updating to Lion. I have contacted apple by e-mail and by phone. No responses to my bug reports or e-mails. The lady I spoke with on the phone got very defensive and said "Well it seems to me that it must be a problem with Twitter, not Apple, since it's only happening with Twitter."

Hope we can find a solution to this soon. That little red "1" badge is so annoying.

A few days ago I got the solution for that from the apple support:

-Open the terminal (applications/Terminal)

-type: mdfind kMDItemAppStoreHasReceipt=1

Example should be something like

Last login: Tue Jul 5 09:04:12 on console

FirstName-LastName-MacBook-Pro:~ firstlastname$ mdfind kMDItemAppStoreHasReceipt=1

/Applications/Evernote.app

/Applications/Twitter.app

/Applications/Install Xcode.app

-compare this list with your purchased apps from the app store

-delete all apps shown in the terminal list but not showed up in the app store list

-restart your Mac, open app store again, the update indicator should now be gone.

After the proceedure everything was fine.

However, not all apps were shown in the terminal list. Some apps I did not buy in the Appstore and I was happy to see that those are not responsible for the bug. I threw out only one application, SolarWalk which a friend send me to check out. I´m not sure if this was a bad egg, however all other apps are running fine.

Hope this helps.

i bought a second hand mac, with twitter already installed with the old user acc. (my bad, not re install mac os x). and now, i cannot update twitter (must sign in with the old user acc). i tried to delete the twitter app. but when i try to install it again from mac app store, an unknown error notification pops up. so im stuck with the oldest version of twitter...

Has this ever been solved? I'm still dealing with this problem...
I've talked to Mac support and Twitter support multiple times and both companies blame it on the other company (how mature). Neither could give me any support besides walking me through the standard "delete it, try and reinstall it, restart your computer, etc."

So does anyone have a solution to this?
