HP USB Drive not detected

The following worked for me like a charm but you have to try it at your own risk.

1- Using Bootcamp switch to Windows. It will detect your memory flash HP 16 GB.

2- Click on my Computer, then right click on HP 16GB icon

3- Select Format

4- Format your Flash selecting FAT32

5- When finished reboot back to MAC and you are ready to go.

You don't need to boot into Windows, you can format the drive using Disk Utility in OSX

In my case I even tried disk utility in Mac OS X 10.6.8 but it was not detected there either. So the only remaining option was to connect the flash to a windows PC, either thru bootcamp or any win PC, detect it, reformat it, and then use it on Mac and of course Windows.

What was the format prior to you redoing it?

Well frankly I don't know since whatever format it was, it was HP default format for this Flash card and I was not able to use it before formatting. In windows when I selected in windows to format it, due to my previous experience with Western Digital 1TB (External Hard Drive) I just selected FAT32 from the list and it worked. 1TB was NTFS and it's not normally working on MAC as 1st computer and win as well as the 2nd preference.

There is no HP default format but unless it's a very large stick it was most likely FAT to start with (although NTFS is possible)

But it seems that you've got it fixed now.

By HP default format I meant whatever was HP preferred format FAT32, NTFS, or ..., in any case it is now fixed perfectly working on both MAC OS X10.8.6 and Win 7 Ultimate thru Bootcamp.

which link you are talking about? do you mean the link in Windows to format the USB drive? if yes just right click on the USB drive icon and select format then FAT 32.

The issue is solved. I did format the disk with FAT 32 filesystem.

My Macbook don't recognize the HP USB Drive modelo V225W 16GB. When i insert the usb drive, nothing happens and doesnt matter if i try in OS or in Windows. Seems like Macbook's doesn't "see" this specific hp model... Any idea to solve this problem?

What we were discussing previously was related to HP V220W 16GB and not V225, in any case I hope the soloution should work with the latter as well.

If your USB drive is not hopefully somehow damaged, it should be detected in Windows to enable you to format it to FAT 32, if not being detected in Windows, then try another windows in another computer.
