Can I Use GarageBand Make An Audio Book?

A friend told me that I can use GarageBand to make an audio book. I'm an author, and I would like to record several of my books as audio books, using sound effects and music. Can I do this with GarageBand, and if so, how would I go about it? Do I need a special microphone? Whatever you can tell me would be extremely helpful, since as of this writing, I don't have a clue.

Mac Mini, Mac OS X (10.6.7)

record your voice on one track, and drop in music, or sound effect files on other tracks

it depends on how professional you want to sound. i would suggest starting out with the internal mic on the mac to see how you like it. then if that's not to your satisfaction, take a look at a good quality USB mic, like one of the ones here:
