Getting M-Audio Keystation 61es to make sound

I just ordered a keyboard, model given in discussion header. It says that it is just plug and play, I hooked it up to some headphones, no sound, I put on GarageBand to do stuff, no sound from computer. Any tips?

This might sound a bit obvious but have you checked your System Preferences>Sound? Your lack of sound has happened to me occasionally when Sound settings have been changed for other apps. Input should be set on Line In, and Output to Headphones. Also make sure Mute is not checked.

Another possibility is to test the Audio MIDI set up application. You will need to open the MIDI window, check your keyboard(controller) is identified by the computer and is working correctly. Finally Test Setup in the Toolbar will indicate the keyboard is ready to play. I hope this helps.
