Can't login to router

Question

Can't login to router

Hi guys,

I have a D-LINK modem connected to an AirPort Express. I wanted to check NAT and port forwarding on the D-LIKN but I cannot open the router page at 192.168.0 or .1. It says Page Not Found.

Any suggestions?

How are you doing buddy,

Your problem is that you don't know the correct IP address for your router.

Rather than guess at it, you can check it by clicking the Apple Menu - > Settings - > Network - > Select Network Interface (Airport etc) -> Advanced

and then on one of the tabs you should see an entry for "Default Gateway" or "Router" and this is your Routers web interface address.

Hope this helps, it's from memory so might not be 100% correct!

Sorry didn't fully read the question!

If you are connected directly to the Airport express wirelessly, the IP address of your DLink router won't be avaiable in the method i've described.

Easiest option is to connect directly to the DLink device via ethernet and do what I suggested above, failing that it would depend if the DLink router is in bridged mode or routing mode as to wether you can login to it over the express,

Thanks John, but when I check it at System Prefs->Network->Advanced->TCP/IP I can see the AirPort router address 10.0.1.1 and not the D-LINK one.

Maybe I didn't explain it well:

Telephone->DSL D-LINK wired Modem->AirPort Express to have the wifi.

You're probably looking for 192.168.1.1 However, The instructions above will tell you for sure. He's referring to System Preferences > Network > Advanced.. > TCP/IP tab.

It's address should be available if its acting as a router in the expresses DHCP routing table I believe...

In that TAB I have the following parameters:

IPv4 Address: 10.0.1.5
Subnet Mask: 255.250.255.0
Router: 10.0.1.1

If I type both 10.0.1.5 or 10.0.1.1 it says Safari can't open the page.

Done as you suggested: connected directly via ethernet to the D-LINK modem and it works.

To explain that,

This is your computers IP : IPv4 Address: 10.0.1.5
This is your Airport Expresses IP : Router: 10.0.1.1

and the subnet mask doesn't matter.

if you open the Airport utility. and select your Airport express, you should be able to get a 'list' of connected devices, one of which should be your Router.
