I am trying to do some 80/20 analysis of a set of events, i.e. the number of different operative procedures Dr. X does. The intent is to focus on the important "many" rather than the less important "few." To do that I want to have a chart with bars of X1, X2, X3, etc. being the different procedures in descending frequency. Then I want to overlay a line graph showing the cumulative percentage of the procedures using the same data as the primary chart. I don't have any problem crunching the numbers, I just don't know how to put the info on one chart. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Getting back to your question, use that last chart option in the list that is available in the Insert Chart tool. This chart has two axes; one for the bar chart and one for the line chart.
Jerry,
Thanks for the note and the advice. Re: my rewording - you are absolutely right. The proper way of putting it is the "important few" meaning the few ratings/categories/procedures. I was thinking of the "many" incidents that fell into the individual scores. Ooops.
