Mac App Store - Opera installation failure

I've purchased many free and paid apps via the Mac App Store, never had any problems. Opera, no matter how hard I try, will not install on my Mac via the Mac App Store.

I've combed my hard drive for every existing file for Opera, erased all. When I go to install on my Mac Pro, it downloads and then when it's finished - poof. It's gone.

Downloads and installs find on my MacBook.

Any ideas?

jMac Pro, MacBook, jPhone 3GS no data, jPhone 4 unlimited data, iPad, Mac OS X (10.6.7)

I found this same issue is being discussed on Opera's forums as well. I wonder how other folks have installed it, what was different? (there are reviews for it, after all - not many folks seem to be complaining about installation)

I have the same problem. Opera was installed beforehand. Now it is gone, and nowhere to be found. The only evidence of it being installed is in the App Store itself and thus can't be uninstalled and reinstalled.

Hi,

There is an alternative.

You can download and install Opera directly from their site here.

You aren't the first to have issues with the Opera app from the Mac App Store.

Thanks, Carolyn. I know. Just looking to figure it out.

One thing: I live abroad (in Taiwan). Perhaps Apple is "disappearing" 17+ rated apps in certain countries, despite allowing users to install them. Strange.

Why some apps are not available in certain countries, I have no idea. But at least with Opera you have the option of downloading from their site.

Once it's installed, you can check for updates from the Opera menu bar, click Opera / Check for Updates.

I'm noticing the problem with any other app, including those with 17+ ratings. Just Opera. I hope once they push another update to the Mac App Store, it would have been addressed by the refresh.

Carolyn, it's not about Opera - it's about the Mac App Store failing. It doesn't seem anyone knows how to fix it either..
