Apple plug-and-play driver for AOC monitor

I just purchased a new 23" AOC monitor to "clamshell" with my macbook. I have purchased the appropriate cables to connect with my macbook to discover that the monitor software doesnt have a mac driver and the AOC website says to download a Mac Plug and Play driver to work with the monitor. The monitor turns on but mirrors my macbook and jumbles up my desktop. I am unable to locate one of these "drivers" with apple's help. Is anyone familiar with this issue that might be able to recommend a solution? I would hate to take my brand new monitor back.

I do see where AOC's FAQ says to install the Plug and Play driver for Mac, but that is just plain wrong. The question below that one about what is a plug and play driver comes much closer to be the actual description of how it's supposed to work.

To your specific problem at hand, is the lid up or lid down where you are having the issue of the monitor not displaying an image? With the lid up, you should be able to make changes to the format being sent to the AOC. With the lid up and mirroring off, are you able to find the proper native format/timing to send to the AOC within OS X's Display Preferences? I'm assuming that should be 1920 x 1080 at 60 Hz. That would typically be the case for a 23" monitor.

Try getting it to run correctly with the lid up first, then move on to the problem of getting it to work right with the lid down.

I am having issues too. I just bought a AOC i2367f and it works (mirror), only it is all wobbly, lines keep going from top to bottom and the resolution is awful. There is no way of setting it (that i can find) in the display preferences. Yet if i boot off the windows partition and set it up to its full resolution in the control panel, it is awsome. Why can I not do this in the mac os? Or can I? If so, How?

Can you post a link where it says on the AOC website to download a Plug and Play driver? I can't believe they got it that wrong.

A P&P driver is something that comes built-in to the monitor, hence the name. It eliminates the need to download a driver because the driver is already inside the monitor and the act of plugging it into the host computer causes the display's driver information to be read automatically. The whole point is to avoid having to download and install drivers, so if the website really says that, it's wrong.

If you click where it says "Do you have drivers for the Mac?" you will see where it talks about a plug and play driver. I was able to turn off the mirroring by changing the Display settings as suggested by Kappy. The monitor is now no longer supplying an image and my monitor reads 'no input' while it seems as though my mac is recognizing that it is there. I have been unable to reset anything to get the initial result.

I hope other new AOC owners come across this thread when they are looking for the same help. Ive been able to get the monitor working with the lid up after messing with some of the resolution settings in preferences. The monitor and computer seem to be communicating better; when I turned off the mirroring this time around the monitor adjusted its resolution on its own.

Thank you so much for your help!

I just bought one of these and came here looking for the same thing - however, I just discovered the problem is with the monitor cable that comes with the AOC monitor.

I used another one and can now achieve the maximum 1920x1080 resolution in OS X Snow Leopard.

Don't ask me why but it works - no issues.

I just bought the AOC 2237Fwh monitor, hooked up a DVI cable out of my Powerbook Pro using OS 10.6.8 and it worked instantly, at full rez. But I am unable to use the keyboard to adjust brightness levels on the fly.

Since there were no Mac drivers or software on the Install DVD, I used Apple's calibration tool in the Diplays COLOR Preferences for now. It has a number of steps to calibration that adjust color, gamma, white point, etc. If anyone knows of AOC drivers that will actually provide AOC's controls, please post here.

I have an AOC LCD monitor. MacBookPro. Since upgrading to OS 10.7 the monitor doesn't work anymore.

It was working fine before, although occassionally it would turn off if there too many other USB divices plugged in.

Can anybody help me with this?

Thanks

Ed

I just got my new MacBook 15 the other day and today decided to set it up wiht my AOC E2251Swdn monitor. Black monitor screen. Grrrr. It worked fine with my old laptop (mid 2007). I got the mini dv adapter as I saw it didn't have the DVI port I'm used to seeing. However, the monitor when I got it only came with the old school VGA cord, not a DVI, thank goodness I finally had a use for the one that must have originally come with the previous laptop, and that worked just fine. Right now I have the VGA cable with the DVI apple adapter then plugged into the DVI to Thunderbolt adapter. Could this cord issue be why my monitor claims no signal no matter what I do?

Also, when I looked for drivers and click the link in the post above, it downloads a folder for drivers, however, I dont' know what to do with the files in that folder (2251w.cat, 2251w.icm and 2251w.INF). I have a hunch they are windows only.

If I need to get a strictly DVI cable I can do that, but would like to know if that's likely my problem before I buy it. The monitor is only about 2 months old give or take.

Thank you in advance

Kellie, it's been several months since I had my AOC monitor problems (on two monitors connected each to a Macmini), but if my memory is correct it was a DVI cable issue. I went to Best Buy, my least favorite place ever, and picked up different DVI cables and they worked. At least, I'm pretty sure that's why I picked up those DVI cables. Never found out why the ones that came with the monitor didn't work. Wait...I don't think my monitor actually did come with DVI cables! The first set I bought were crap and had to be replaced. My issue had nothing to do with the AOC driver, either.

Don't know if this will help, but I believe I can confirm that the first DVI cables didn't work. If it hadn't been 10 months ago I might remember more.

Yes, when I got it I was told DVI was fine (and I'm sure it is) however it failed to mention it only came with the anceint VGA cables, not DVI (but it does have a DVI port). I will try and stop somewhere and pick up a DVI cable and cross my fingers that it works. I'm guessing going through two adapters it's not too happy.

Thanks again! Will cross my fingers tomorrow 🙂

Having read this thread, I was a bit apprehensive before hooking up my AOC i2367F monitor. As it turned out, my preliminary prep was far more than required: both on a PowerPC G4 and on a new retina-screen PowerBook it was plug and play all the way, no driver download and only autotuning with the presets. It's not in the same league as Apple's monitor, but for $140 I have no complaint. I don't know what additonal drivers others feel that they need.

mine is even weirder - i have a Macbook Air and hooked it up via thunderbolt VDI adapter for VGA connected to the AOC 2350 S about 6 weeks ago - took a bit of fiddling but works wonders

i dropped my MACBook and had to pay 590 US for a new Thunderbolt and USB port on the back right - paid sorted

now i plug in my HDI to the thunderbolt port and i get "no signal message" - thr port is working we tested it in the apple store

ive downloaded the AOC :driver zip" (i didnt have to use this before) but how do i get it to run or install ? if i double click on the zip filr i just get 4 files none that are "actionable" when i click or double click

the only other option is that the VGA/ VDI adapter has shorted ? thats why im getting a no signal message....

wasting loads of time and really frustrated !!!
