Where does OS X 6.7 store the default browser setting?

Where does OS X 6.7 store the default browser setting? My computer started not remembering which browser I select as default and always returns to Firefox 4.

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.6.7), 2.4 GHz Intel Core Duo

Look in Safari's Preferences, under General tab : default web bowser. Make your selection there.

I know how to change my choice but in what file is the default browser choice stored?

As best I can tell, it's this file:
/Users/yourname/Library/Preferences/com.apple.LaunchServices.plist

When I changed the default browser from FireFox to Safari, the first three keys there changed as follows:

Thank you for the lead to Users/yourname/Library/Preferences/com.apple.LaunchServices.plist.

I deleted the file and started again, and the problem of the system not remembering my default browser seems to have been corrected.

I appreciate your help.
