I am having numerous problems with the new firmware upgrade. Initially it took 4 download and update sessions to actually completely install it. After that the iPhone wouldn't show in iTunes or in windows, several restores finally fixed that issue. Somewhere in that process any backup of my data was lost, annoying but replaceable. Now my current issue is I cannot sync anything to the iPhone. After connecting it to computer it starts to sync but while syncing music I get an error, The required disk cannot be found. I looked and the iPhone is not showing in computer. After this I uninstalled and reinstalled every piece of apple software on my computer, including apple mobile device service. This however solved nothing, iPhone still does not appear in computer panel but does in iTunes and will not sync anything.
Is anyone having similar issues or have found a solution to similar issues? May not be what apple would recommend but the next solution i can think of is downgrading the firmware to 4.3. The iPhone worked perfectly with 4.3 and has only ever had problems with 4.3.1, nothing else has changed. Any advice on this issue would be greatly appreciated.
They alternate whether you get screwed or not by whether you are a dog person or a cat person.
This time they hammered the cat persons I guess.
Of course it sounds more to me like you have a mail connectivity problem. You don't perchance have Yahoo mail? Have you tried deleting your mail account and setting it up from scratch on your phone?
.....I've experienced the same troubles but honestly and surely I can say you have a corrupt download of 4.3.1 or a corrupt install to your device....the ONLY way to fix this is to again, download a clean 4.3.1 firmware and install as a new device....good luck...it's very frustrating but there is a light at the end of this tunnel....
No I do not have yahoo anything. It has been reinstalled since updated. The update process wiped my phone completely out and went into restore. And I reinstalled once after that. It's the same email I have used on every iPhone I've had including this one. Worked fine until update. As far as getting a corrupt download how exactly does that happen if the iPhones is connecting to apple to update? I have over a dozen "I" products. This is my 4th iPhone and the first time I've experienced problems like this. Also this is the 2nd time 4.3.1 has been installed. Maybe 3rd time will work. In all honesty I really do want to know how you get a corrupted updated when your iPhone is communicating with apple to get it? In the end It is what it is.
Many things can cause a corrupted download, static on the line, etc but I agree if you have downloaded it twice then it is unlikely. When you Restored your iPhone did you restore it as a new phone or from backup?
It was restored as a new device. I'm going to give it another go tomorrow. If that doesn't work I'll force it into recovery mode and go from there. Forcing it into that usually can solve the problems
As I've said I have over a dozen "i" devices. And I didn't say it will fix this problem and I said it usually does fix things. I was never specific as to this one issue. This will not be the first time I've had to force a recovery. And yes it usually fixes things.
Thank you I've had some comments like I have no clue what I'm talking about. This has given me problems with clean install, recovering, setting up as new device, A mess up on One install ok that's believable but after several installs and same issue it's more than likely there is a issue within the update. My battery goes down at the speed of light now. I used to charge every Other day or so now twice a day. I am with you on this we are not imagining these problems. How's your email sending? Mines all messed up. Reception too.
Here's what you do. Don't use your iPhone until Apple releases iOS 5 and all your problems will be solved. Except for the new ones in iOS 5.
What kind of email account is this? Exchange server? Something with the update obviously does not agree with the setup of YOUR iPhone, but this does not mean this is some system bug present that will be fixed in the next update.
Also, have you called AppleCare or made a Genius Bar appointment?
On many of the past updates persons with certain Exchange server configurations reported problems with emailing and extreme battery drain after an update. In many cases it was a mis-match with some settings on the Exchange Server/ActivSync and the solution was for the Exchange administrator to dump the account and set it up again.
And the reason for the capital YOUR is what exactly? Being childish? If you notice I did not start this thread and I am not the only one having issues That's the problem with these blogs. Would be nice to use them to find helpful info not people throwing it into a personal issue. I mean really what's the point of your jabs? And according to your one theory I should have been skipped. I have 2 boxers not cats! Anyway moving on I will post no more replies to this person. I have better things to do than act like a child.
