iPad 2: HDMI Input, Cam to iPad -> iPad as video monitor?

Is there any more viable solution for this 6 years later?

My use case is Canon XF105 HDMI output to iPad as a video feed (recognised internally as a camera) so it can be used for Facebook Live streaming.

I'm looking for a similar solution. I have a Magewell USB 3.0 HDMI video capture device, and Apple's Lightning to USB 3.0 lightning adapter. Is there any app out there that might recognize the video input from these two devices?

There is absolutely NO WAY to transmit ANYTHING from iDevice to iDevice.

Apple has intentionally prevented this type of transfer for iDevice security and privacy reasons.

There are NO easy or cheap solutions for what you are asking to do.

IF you own any type of recent Apple MacBook you can mirror your iDevice's screen to a MacBook via Airplay.

Apple TV doesn't work that way either.

Actually most streaming boxes don't work that way.

Apple TV takes IN video and media sources, it doesn't transmit out in the other direction to other iDevices.

The digital HDMI AV adapter is only a one-way OUT video connection from an iPad.

But, iPad has an data input. As an example, eyeTV mobile is a TV-tuner for iPad2. If they can send TV-signal on the screen, it's posible with video signal too. Everything is posible.

You can use a Teradek Cube 250 to get HDMI wirelessly into an iPad. Have a look at www.teradek.com and there is a free Teracentral App. There are also HDSDI and composite versions,

Yes,... I found that too, but it's too expensive.

I hoped there would be a "simple" connector/adaptor/converter for this.

Not yet from what I can tell, but hopefully sometime soon. I think Apple has up until now prevented any hardwired live video input to the iPad, they only allow it to be streamed in or transferred in as files via wifi or 3G. There is a USB based Camera Connector kit, but that is only for transferring files. It doesn't allow you to use the iPad as a monitor, which is what we all (we being DSLR photgraphers and videographers) really want and they haven't given us yet. We can always pray, keep our fingers crossed, write comments and blog posts and friendly emails, with the hope that it will fall on the ears of those in the positions to make it happen... I just wouldn't hold my breath. It could take a looooong time 🙂

Is there any news on this? I'm looking for a solution to see the HDMI-output of my camera on the iPad.

(Pentax K-5 since there is no software for tethered shooting)
