I don't know if King Penguin actually tried the solution with the Economist app but it doesn't work for me with an iPod touch. I tap and hold as suggested by the Ec'ist help page and it has no effect. The app is also failing to download successfully as others have reported. Anybody else had this problem and found a solution that worked for them?
Bumping four years later!
As far as I can tell, I've deleted all but the one or two most recent editions of The Economist off my iPad. Yet when I go into the usage tab, the app is still taking up around 1GB, which seems rather excessive. Is this normal behaviour, or is there something else I should be deleting?
I have exactly the same problem. I have deleted all the issues I had downloaded on my iPhone but the usage of The Economist App is still about 1 Gbyte that is quite to much. Could anyone give me some advice to figure this problem out?
a_barbe_, I don't seem to have that problem anymore: on my iPad The Economist app is taking up 358MB, and on the iPhone it's 168MB. I don't remember if I did anything to change this. For what it's worth:
Perhaps your best bet is to delete the app off your iPhone entirely, and then reinstall it and sign in again. That will probably get rid of whatever cruft is taking up 1GB.
Lost in Asia, thanks so much for your answer. Actually I have an iPhone 5 and I'm not still completely convinced to install the last release of iOS. I would try to delete the App and install it again.
