F1-F9 and Right Shift key not working

Hi,

I have a Macbook Pro 15''. After the software update, some keys stopped working - F1 to F9 and the right shift key. I could not find any solution to this. There are no applications in the Utilities for Keyboard Firmware Updates.
OS X 10.6.7

Try holding the Fn key together with them. If that works, there is a checkbox that forces you to use the Fn key in the Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Keyboard and Mouse.

Hi,

Thank you very much for your response. But none of those are working. F1 and F2 which are supposed to adjust the screen brightness also does nt work. It happened after the software update.

Try zapping the PRAM. Command-Option-P-R need to be held all together after the screen goes blank on restart and the machine should chime no more than three times before you let go.

same problem here with my 2007 macbook. The problem started randomly but finished being continuous. Now f1 to f9 aren't working as well as right shift key.

I tried to reset Pram, smc, disk utilities, onyx, app cleaner and nothing worked. No recent new installations or hardware changes.

I've been searching everywere but no one has the solution :-(

Maybe a virus?

This is exact probem I have - occured out of nowhere!

F1-9 and Right-Shift not working at all.

Does anyone have an explanation/solution (three years on!)
