Music Videos portrait (4:3) vs widescreen (16:9)

Why is that the majority of the music videos purchased on iTunes play on AppleTv as Portrait (4:3) but on my iphone they play as Widescreen (16:9)?. I have looked to change the aspect ratio in settings but unable to find any set up functions

Many music videos are still produced in 4:3, I don't know why, maybe there's a reason but at the end of the day it's the producers decision.

They play on the Apple TV in 4:3 because they are 4:3, if they fill your screen on your iPhone it's because they have been zoomed which has been done by the iPhone. If you want to do the same on your TV, you'll need to look whether your TV has such settings or not, some do, some don't.

Ideally you would want to zoom rather than changing the aspect ratio, the later will simply distort the picture.
