Can't delete folders from 'Sidebar'

Hi,

I put loads of different folders in my sidebar of finder so i have quick access to them, and i used to be able to just drag them out the finder window to get rid of them, but now it won't let me do that for some reason?

I have to right click on the folder and choose 'remove from sidebar' BUT for some folders that i've deleted in finder, i can't get rid of them at all from the sidebar.

Any help or advice would really be appreciated,

Usually holding down the COMMAND key then dragging the item from the Sidebar will work. If not then try OPTION-COMMAND together and drag from Sidebar.

thanks, holding the command key does it, weird though because i never had to hold command before.

The command key requirement is new in 10.6.7.

i had the same problem, thanks for the solution. if this is indeed a new requirement, i suggest that this step gets added to the relevant help section of the computer.

Any idea why, Jeffrey? It seems odd for Apple to add keystrokes to a function rather than take them away.

Yes - it keeps people from inadvertently deleting items from the sidebar. Now it must be a deliberate action.

It's because we change the folder's location so we can't delete it in the normal way.... i know the reason but i don't know how to fix it. Thanks for the solution though.
