iPhone device is not recognised by windows Explorer

My iPhone works normally with iTunes, and the computer acknowledges it's presence with a ding dong when i plug it in and remove it. Yet it does not appear in the my computer folder hence i cannot access it's drive to add/remove photos and videos from the library.

Any tips?:)

Is Apple Mobile Device Service still active on your computer? http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1567
Are you using the camera wizard to copy the media to your computer? "Copying personal photos and videos from iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your computer": http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083
To copy them to your device, you'll have to use iTunes: "iPhone, iPad and iPod touch: Syncing photos via iTunes" http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4236

Try this, go to Control Panels, System, click on the Hardware tab, click "device manager", expand the list, then click on "imaging devices" to expand it, right click on "digital still camera" then from the pop-up menu select "properties". Make sure the title is Apple iPhone, then close the window by clicking "cancel" next you will need to uninstall the driver by right clicking again and selecting uninstall from the pop-up menu. Then restart your computer. After your computer restarts plug in your iPhone and the system will start the install new hardware routine.

I spent hours and hours on this, and finally figured out and fixed my problem. However, this solution is ONLY good for Windows 7 N or Windows 7 KN. To find out what version of Windows you are running, follow the instructions at http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/help/which-version-of-the-windows-op erating-system-am-i-running

If you are running Windows 7 N or KN, the sad truth is that your OS does NOT HAVE the software needed to connect your iPhone as a digital camera! However, the good news is that this is easy to fix. The fix is at http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=16546

I installed that, and everything just magically started working the way it was supposed to.

i am having the same problem. my iphone is recognized by itunes (both 10.7 and 11, i have tried installing/reinstalling both versions), but it is not recognized by windows explorer as an iphone so i cannot pull my camera pictures off of it.

funnily enough, while i was in between installations, windows did recognize it as a 'camera', but the moment apple mobile device services was reinstalled by one or the other program, i lost that.

final thing: i have a separate ipod nano 5th gen, it has the option for disk use checked and it does show up in explorer when i plug it in. so i'm somewhat certain that it's my iphone itself, but i've tried resetting it to factory defaults and restoring it's backups and that hasn't fixed the problem.

thoughts?

i am running windows 7; ver.6.1; svc pack 1

i've tried both itunes 10.7 and 11.03.42 (currently on, for the record i dont like the interface, bleh)

iphone is 6.1.3
