Silent Switch doesnt seem to give me a vibrate alert

When i put by phone on silent my silent switch doesnt vibrate to alert me its been activated, but when i use the switch to turn on my ringer it vibrates. Sometimes it vibrates either way or it doesnt at all.

Does anyone know if this is hardware related or software?

macbook pro, Mac OS X (10.6.4)

Check: Settings>Sounds>Silent>Vibrate>On/Off.

Both options are set to on. I just tried the switch again and when it put it in silent it didn't give me a vibrate alert. But it does vibrate when I getting a call,text or email. So the function works. Just think it might be a glitch in the software.

i now know what the issue is, i jailbroke my iphone 4, so when i got home i restored it, messed with all the sound settings and vibrate settings and not once was there a glitch...so it was the jailbreak
