Keys falling off new MacBook Pro 15" (2011)

Is anybody having an issue with keys falling off? I've already had the Apple Store replace the 'E' key, and now the '[' is falling off. It seems the plastic hooks on the underside are breaking. I'm a software developer so I do quite a bit of typing but I've only had this computer for less than 2 months. (it's one of the new MacBook Pros, 2011) I just upgraded from a MacBook 13" that I had for 2 years with no issues at all with the keys.

I'm almost inclined to ask to have the entire keyboard replaced. Thoughts?

I live in India and i bought a 13" MBP not more than 2 weeks ago. It seems to have the same problem as you guys have mentioned. I have the 'delete' key coming off and for the past 3 days have had one **** of a time trying to resolve this between Apple India customer care and their Authorised Service providers here. There has been no end in sight to this problem. If i had known of such lousy service in India for Apple, I wouldn't have touched their products.

I could have got the same lousy service at much, much lower cost if I had bought any other brand of laptop 🙂

😁 I agree...but at the moment my entire 'Apple' experience has not lead me to believe that i got anything better from Apple. It would be great if they could change my mind about that.

Having exactly the same issue here. The right arrow key has popped off my mac book pro 2011 keyboard and won't clip back in. So far been told it's not covered by warranty, then told it is, then told to send high res photo's as it might not be. Losing patience rapidly.

I'm in the UK and found these guys: thebookyard.com - thinking this is going to be the quickest way to resolve this one. Abysmal support on this so far. To be fair this is the first time I have had to use apple support in 5 years, having purchased 4 macs in that time. There seems to be some underlying accusation that I have damaged the machine which is what really grates. Anyway, off to fetch the camera.

I'm having the same exact problem as well! I just bought my MBP 2011 in september and already two keys are falling off. I went in and they told me that they don't recommend replacing the keyboard because they don't like to open up a new computer to fix the keys or something like that so that I should just replace the key itself. It's been about almost 3-4 weeks now since I've been to the apple store and they still haven't called me in yet to say they have the key now. And now another key is falling off. Also I just had my hard drive replaced last week. I was never given a reason why my hard drive went out but just told that it needed to be replaced. Now I just feel like getting a new one already. I feel like I was sold a refurbished computer.
