Frozen Itouch with broken power button

Hey everyone,
I while ago I replaced the screen on my itouch and somehow busted the power button. Its not a big deal since I don't really have to turn it off or at least didnt until now. Today it froze, and since the power button is busted I can reset it. itunes won't recognise it when I plug it in. Is there a way to reset it without the power button? By other thought was to leave it until the battery dies then try plugging it in again but it was just charged is on the lowest screen brightness with the wifi off so that may take some time.
