buy button for some apps grayed out

I have a problem on my iPad2 - when I go in the AppStore, they buy button for some applications is disabled (grayed out). I than downloaded the App in iTunes on my MacBook and tried to sync it to the iPad, it is synching it (I see that it copies it) but it does not appear on the iPad (while the screen in iTunes shows that it is installed). The device is running the latest iOS (4.3.1)

I already tried:
- rebooting the device
- reinstall device from backup

The installation of the same apps work fine on my iPad1 - it is only the iPad2 that does not like it.

There isn't anything to solve, you will see it for free apps - you are buying them for zero (they go on your account's purchase history so they are, effectively, purchases, but you aren't paying anything to buy them).

I had the same problem. Thanks to the post above- it was the restriction. I have a 4 year old and had set restrictions for apps in settings to 4+. My kid had accidentaly deleted Netflix app and no matter what I did I could not get it back. The App store showed the install button as greyed out.

As soon as I removed the restrictions, I was able to download it again.

OMG!! Thank you! 😍

I have spent the last 2 days going crazy. I purchased an application and could see I had it installed in my iTunes account but could not see see the icon or app on my iPad. I have emailed the App Support, I have uninstalled and reinstalled. I was getting incredibly frustrated 😢 and all it was, the whole time, was the application restrictions which I had set at 4+ for my kids!

Now removed restrictions and I can see my app as well as others I had forgotten about!!

I agree that there is no logic to the age rating applied to some apps!! 😕
