Really, you're asking how Apple would know that you replaced your screen? When you took apart your phone, they'll be able to tell and it's really unlikely the screen you put on your phone was an Apple screen. And you likely didn't connect the electronics correctly anyway.

You messed up. This is why Apple doesn't replace front screens instore in the first place. When someone brings in a phone with a broken screen, they charge an out of warranty replacement of $199 and that's all you would have had to worry about.

Since you chose to void your warranty, you're out of luck.......

I usually never write in posts but you my friend, rbrylawski really made me want to say something.

first of the guy did not ask you what you thought about him replacing the screen. second Apple does charge 199 dollars to fix a broken screen which is absurd.

ive replaced a couple hundred iphone screens in the last few years and I beleive it is a better alternative than paying apple for thier outrages support prices. second the iphone 4 screens that are sold on ebay are the same exact ones in iphone 4's. straight from fox conn in china. and apple doesn't even check to see if you replaced something. they simply swap it out.

so kudos to lcukyduck to replacing his screen and goodluck with finding a solution, maybe you left a piece of plastic cover on inside. also most ppl forget to replace the little plastic piece that goes in the inside right by the proximity for the flash.

you aren't out of luck.

rbrylawski - get out of apples *** its just a cell phone and we can do whatever the heck we want with it.

My 2 cents here: I have replaced the sensor/ microphone/ lock switch array and found that there is a small lens on the original proximity sensor (a smal color changing tinted plastic). If that little piece got stuck to the original screen with the small foam piece holding the sensor, the replacement won't work at all. Once I replaced the lens on the new assembly it works perfectly. Hope this is useful to any one.

I shattered my Iphone 4 screen. However; my screen still worked just fine. It was only the glass that was broken.

I ordered a replacement screen and after disassembling the entire phone, and at the beginning of reasssembly, I found the the prongs or connectors whichever you call them did not match up. When comparing the two screens, I noticed that my Verizon Iphone had the prongs in the corner of my phone and the replacement screen had them a little lower down on the screen. Just a slight difference. So, I could not use the screen new screen as it would not line. I then chose to reassemble my phone with the broken screen. After assembly was complete, I powered up my phone to find that only the bottom half of my touch screen worked. Why is it doing this? And how many versions of the screens are there? I am thinking mine must have been the AT&T version which is constructed a little different than the Version Iphone4. Any thoughts on this would be very much appreciated. 🙂

Im just leaving this comment for anyone who wanders across this forum looking for a solution, BEFORE trying restores, and wiping your phone/data, odds are that the tinted lens that covers the proximity sensor is missing, hopefully if you did your own replacement, you still have your original parts, and if you didn't take your phone back and have the repair shop fix your phone. Also, kudos for doing your own repairs!
