Using external USB 3G with ipad 2

but if you get a computer and put the usb 3g in that you can share the internet that way
but an ipad can't use it and nor are they ever likely to

Connect it to a wifi router that is connected to the Internet. Or, connect to a computer via wifi and share the computer's connection to the Internet.

an ipad is not a computer replacement even if yours had 3g
you can't backup without a computer or update the os

get a computer and use the usb modem in it and share it's internet with the ipad
and when you're out of the house you're at the mercy of free wifi

Get a mifi and data plan from a cell phone provider. Connect your iPad using wifi to your mifi that is connected to the Internet via 3G.

1. Buy a portable router, such as the MiFi, if available.
2. Buy an iPad WiFi+3G
3. As suggested, connect a USB 3G devicevto a computer and set up an ad hoc network.
