Address Book create multiple 'No Name' entries - how do I stop this?

For some reason my address book is creating lots of No Name cards. We are talking over 2600 in two weeks. I delete them and they keep returning. Why? How can I make it stop?
(I sync the following devices via iTunes 2xiPhone3g, 1xiPad, 4xiPod) Only the iPhones are set to sync the address book

MacPro, Mac OS X (10.6.7), Quad Core Intel, 2.66GHz,

I uopgraded to Lion on a new MacBookPro and at the same time upgraded my ipohone to IOS 5.0.1. I turned on Icloud sync. Since then only trouble.

Calendars and contacts don't sync. Its impossible to turn off the sync feature on the Iphone 4s. Phone and other windows go blank. My contact folder is filled up with 78000 "no name" entries.

All these problems cannot be unknown to Apple- judging from the many similar tickets I find on the web.

What to do?

I should have posted before now. I took my MBPro to the Apple store where one of the genius dudes did his magic and was able to copy the valid (non-duplicate) contacts to a clean version of Address Book then deleted the old Address Book. All is well. I would never have been able to do this on my own. Kudos to the Genius Bar folks.

I now have more than 1.5million contacts, 90% of which are "no name" in my mac Address book. I believe that I may have inadvertently been syncing with google and I cloud at the same time. I use entourage rather than Mac MAil. Anyone got a clue as to why my addresses are expanding like a virus. It is killing my iphone whihc has now all but dies due to number of contacts.

It's been a while since you've posted this question so maybe you've already found the solution by now but I found the same thing was happening to me as well. I solved it by going to my settings/mail,contacts, calendars then under accounts you will see outlook. Under outlook it has the option to turn the contacts on or off and your contacts are most likely on which is why you have multiple no name entries. When you turn this off the no name entries should be gone. The no name entries are your email contacts that outlook automatically syncs to your address book. I hope this helps 🙂
