Importing into an existing project

I want to import new stills and movie clips into an existing project. Let's call the project Test. All of the items to import are in folders on my external hard drive. I am referencing the files.
In the project, Test I have albums that divide the items into categories. I highlight the project, Test and select File>Import>files. In the import settings window I select the desired existing project, Test. Aperture goes through the motions but the items are no where to be found and I cannot import them again as Aperture will not allow me to highlight the files.
Please Help

I think Frank meant "Make sure you have NO filters set" -- in the search field at the top right of the Browser border, click the "x" to clear any filters, then see if your images are where you expect them.

I have another hint, more long-winded, but something I found very useful when I 'discovered' it.

In Photos view, you can sort all the images in your Library by the date/time they were imported.

In order to do this, you must set "Import Session" as one of the active metadata fields in one of the List View metadata overlays. Then in List View, scroll over to the "Import Session" column, and click the column header to sort by Import Session. This sort order is retained if you switch to Grid view (you'll see it in the drop-down spinner).

This makes it easy to find "mis-placed" recently imported items.

You could just [filter Photos view by +Import Session+ .|http://documentation.apple.com/en/aperture/usermanual/index.html#chapter=14%2 6section=18%26tasks=true]

Once you find your items, you should be able to determine their Project path.
