after restoring IOS 4.3.1 FW to my iphone i found out syncing photos through itunes copies it to "photo library" not "Camera Roll". but if i use Softwares like "WallpapersHD" it copies it to camera roll.

the problem is i cant delete photos from "photo library" but can from "Camera Roll" and i CANT WRITE IN THE IPHONE DCIM FOLDER THROUGH A PC. i need access to my photos i sync thorough itunes so i can delete anytime i want, and Apple's softwares does not let me do it ! please helpout!

All synced photos go to photo library.

Camera roll is temporary storage for pics taken with or saved from iphone. They should be imported to your computer regularly. From there you can organize them and sync them back to iphone if you like.

You delete pics from photo library the same way you got them there. The sync process. Deselect the folder to sync, then sync. Or remove the pic from the selected folder on your computer and sync.

There is no option to transfer photos from your computer to the iPhone's Camera Roll. The Camera Roll is for temporary storage only. Photos/videos in the Camera Roll can and should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera and removed from the Camera Roll after the import process is complete as is common with any other digital camera or with a digital camera's storage card.

The iPhone's Camera Roll stores photos/videos that were captured by the iPhone, and it also stores photos saved from a website, from a received email, from a received MMS, and with a 3rd party app such as Wallpapers HD which provides access to the internet for saving select photos made available from the internet with the app.

Removing photos from your iPhone that were transferred from your computer (from the iPhone's Photo Library) is done in the same way the photos were transferred to your iPhone in the first place - via the iTunes sync process.

Makes sense ….but don’t you think its hard sometimes to find a PC around with an itunes installed on the go. So if I could just use this method I will able to keep the ones I want only through DCIM rather than searching a PC on the road or a café which has a itunes installed. With this option I’ll don’t even need internet access to download and install itunes.
I hope the next itunes SW update or the Iphone 4 FW update may fix this, I really hope.
    But thanks anyway.

If you are trying to free up space delete other data like a rarely used app. You can only manage the pictures folder from the "home" library used to manage your iPhone or, just possibly, delete all photos other than the camera roll at another computer.

I have never needed to do so in nearly 4 years now. If I didn't want the photos transferred from my computer to my iPhone in the first place, I would not have transferred the photos to my iPhone. If I decide I no longer want an album of photos on my iPhone that were transferred from my computer and I'm away from my computer when coming to that conclusion, there is no hard pressing reason whatsoever that I would need to find a computer to remove the photos right then and there, which would remove all photos from my iPhone that were transferred from my computer.

I wouldn't hold your breath - this is far from a pressing need for Apple to waste any time changing.

YA Allan I got your point. It makes life easy doing it the DCIM way when you don’t have enough space in your iphone and you need to click more pictures for work purposes ON THE JOB, I know you would say …..then I should have access to a PC by the time I know the memory is full…..
Well, being a customer I would need the product that I purchased to be mine to make my life faster and easier….PERIOD…. That’s one.
And secondly, where all the other phones have the option to do so even business phones, I don’t see any reason at all why apple should not adopt it…. I have send buying this piece when I had my options open.
Just like Apple has priorities so do people over trying to find how much space they got on their phone on a job site for 3 months without PC’s in a remote desert area. I hope that makes sense.
It’s is a suggestion by a lot of others also I know.

You shouldn't have the storage capacity completely full or close to it to begin with.

There are other options for clearing more storage space than with photos transferred from your computer such as movies, tv shows, podcasts, and 3rd party apps that are rarely if ever used.

Well, being a customer I would need the product that I purchased to be mine to make my life faster and easier….PERIOD…. That’s one.

It doesn't work that way. If a device doesn't meet your most important needs and wants, purchase/use a device that does... PERIOD. I fail to understand why anyone would continue using a device that doesn't meet their most important needs and wants.

And secondly, where all the other phones have the option to do so even business phones, I don’t see any reason at all why apple should not adopt it…

Even more of a reason to not continue using a device that doesn't meet your most important needs and wants. Apple has their reason which has nothing to do with how many other phones include the option and regardless how many other people you know want the same. I know a lot of other people that couldn't care less.

hey you dont have to tell me what i should buy. i will make that decision ***PERIOD***....besides this is not really a big deal for me .... i dont work in a desert. Apple is better than any other product i know. you are the one who is degrading apple and im sure if it was Apple they would not have been so arrogant. although i liked how turingtest2 replied. i didnt want you to answer after that..but i dont think you are representing Apple in anyway by your comments. thanks for your link though. lol...lol
