My ipod froze

My new ipod froze while it was connected to the computer. I can't do anything on it. You can see the time and the caption "do not disconnect" but everyting is frozen. Even the light isn't turing on. Is there anything I can do?

I had a similar problem when I first bought my ipod mini a year ago. I called apple technical support and the guy told to me to reset it following these steps. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step. After I did this everything worked perfect. I used a gateway laptop though since I have switched to mac. Hope this helps.
