I am going through Motion online tutorials & books. Haven't yet mastered some of this. What I'm stuck on at the moment is I need to import objects and bend them, as if they were wrapped around the outside of a wheel or circular object, when I then want to spin.
I'm playing around with a lot of the behaviors, and Basic 3D, but which one would I use to basically map pictures/objects/etc. to the surface of a round object or to bend them appropriately as to give this impression?
I've played with Sphere, but it makes a ball of sorts, but I want to bend the image into more of a tube, as if the image was wrapped around a spinning toilet paper roll. I'll play around with it, maybe I can disable the top and bottom spherical attributes.
No go, unless I'm missing something. Can't tube/bend my images. 😟
I have AE 6.5, but it's been a while since I've gone through the Meyer tutorials/books, so I'm pretty rusty and may ditch this effect for this project due to time contraints.
This may not be exactly what you want, but here's a
still that shows the use of the Displace filter along with a gradient filled rectangle to bend an image. I used a copy of the same rectangle to provide some shading...
