Automatic Bluetooth mouse setup keeps freezing my computer- help!

An automatic Bluetooth mouse setup assistant window opens up every time I start my MacBook, and while it searches for my non-existent Bluetooth mouse I cannot use my touchpad mouse or the keyboard, so my computer is in essence frozen. Shutting down and restarting using the main power button doesn't solve the problem. Since I don't have a Bluetooth mouse (and never have had one), the setup assistant keeps searching indefinitely and I cannot access my computer. What can I do (other than buy a Bluetooth mouse)?

Ok, I booted up in safe mode, turned off and deleted all the Bluetooth stuff as instructed, booted up regularly again, and for a little while it was ok, but several minutes later the Bluetooth mouse setup assistant (and corresponding mouse/keyboard freezing) was back, and now shutting down and restarting again (normally), I'm back to the same state as before... The Bluetooth setup assistant comes on and freezes everything before the computer has even finished fully starting up (my icons aren't visible on the desktop yet).

Have you gone into System Preferences, Internet and Wireless, Bluetooth, and unchecked both the 'on' and the 'discoverable' boxes? Remove any devices that might appear in the left column with the - (minus) key.

I can't since my keyboard and mouse are frozen as soon as the computer restarts!

Can you boot up in Safe Mode http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1455 If you can do you have the same problem? If you don't have the bluetooth problem then follow Kostby's suggestions.

Which MacBook do you have and what OS are you running?
Do you have the install disks for whatever OS you are running. When you've started from a Mac OS X installation disc, choose Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Run "Repair disk" and "Repair Permissions" from "First Aid". Then re-start. If you still have the problem then you may need to do an "Archive and Install" http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1710

So I took my computer to the apple store and it turns out that there was an actual faulty connection to the keyboard/mouse pad- the wire was loose, so the computer wasn't detecting a mouse and so decided there must be a Bluetooth mouse instead... Which explains both the automatic Bluetooth search and the 'frozen' keyboard/mouse (they figured this out by attaching a wired keyboard and mouse which worked just fine). I had had my keyboard fixed/reinstalled 6 months ago at the apple store, and apparently they didn't do a very good installation since this guy told me the wire was all tangled and frayed instead of nice and straight... So they put in a new keyboard cover and wire, and it seems like the problem is fixed.
