Nikon D80 - ipad - Camera Connection Kit

I've got a Nikon D80 (about 4 years old) and am trying to connect it directly to the IPAD and download the pictures. They are in JPG format. I'm a windows user at home and have never had an issue connecting to the camera.

Any suggestions?

I used to have a D80, but no longer. If I still had it, I'd test for you. I think you have to look for a USB setting and change the mode on it so the iPad is able to browse the folders of your D80. It's in the camera settings somewhere.

Try setting it to a "Mass Storage" device.

Thanks very much

I checked the settings on the camera - it's set to USB mass storage device.

I also have a NIKON Coolpix s210 - small travel camera - same issue. But again, my PC reads it fine and I have a co worker who uses a Macbook air and read it without any difficulty.

Thinking it's some IPAD setting or maybe the kit is just faulty?

Any other suggestions?

Is the iPad on and unlocked when you're plugging in the camera? I've noticed sometimes the camera kit doesn't detect my camera (Nikon D7000) when I plug everything in when the iPad is in sleep mode. So I follow these steps:

1. Plug the camera connection attachment to iPad
2. Plug USB cable to camera connection attachment
3. Wake/turn on iPad
4. Turn on camera
5. Plug camera to USB cable <-- I make sure this is my last step

Here's the Apple support link to the Camera Connection kit

Thanks - tried what you suggested. Still does not see it at all. Also changed the camera mode from mass storage to PTP no luck.

I then tried the SD card reader - that worked just fine.

So i'm thinking that the USB connector is just bad. Can't beleive the SD card reader can see the photo's but not the USB connection from two different Cameras

Thanks much
