Unable to copy files to external drive

I'm trying to copy some files to an external Maxtor OneTouch 4 hard drive (it's previously been used with a PC). However, when I get info -> Sharing & Permissions it tells me I can only read. How do I change this so I can copy some files over?

Mac Pro 8 Core, 6GB Ram, Mac OS X (10.6.7)

Hi Marc,I recently solved this problem.

everything you need is just downloading and install paragon ntfs application on your mac and enjoy.

you can copy your mac files to any external hard.

I should say this application is free just for 10 days and you should buy it if you like that.

but I have a little problem for copying external hard files to mac even though with using of this application many of my troubles solved.

Hi All u can access your external drive via a browser eg :- Google chrome

In my case what i did was i draged the icon (that is my external HDD)that appears on the Desktop

to the browser Chrome or any browser can do it

and it opened the content like ftp and i then dragged the file to copy so it started as if it is downloading the file and it was faster than any file manager Dont need of any other softwares
