Brother QL-570 label printer won't print!

I'm having a problem with a new Brother QL-570 label printer and my iMac OSX (10.5.8) I checked with Brother tech support, and they determined all the software and drivers are in place, but nothing will print. The job will show up in the print queue, but will be "stopped".
I am attempting to print via USB, and have changed cables and changed ports, reinstalled software and drivers and restarted my computer as well as the printer. I can't think of anything else to do, except return the printer. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I don't know why it won't work, but I use a Dymo brand label printer and have never had an issue.

Have you tried this with only the printer connected to USB and nothing else? If you use the System Profiler does it see the printer when it is attached and powered on?

Yes, the System Profiler sees my Brother Label Printer. I'm wondering if it's just a defective printer.
