How can I "lock / passcode" my mail icon

An option for securely accessing multiple mail accounts on an iPhone or iPad is the $2 Secure Webmail app from Apps Gone Bananas.
I cannot comment on this App i'm afraid, but will be giving it a go in the very very near future. But it sounds like this will do what Apple won't.
Hope this helps anyone who reads this 😊
If this App allows me to let the kids use my iPad without me worrying about them nosing about in my PRIVATE EMAIL, then it will be money well spent 🙂
Did you get an answer?
Yes, they are all above your post.
If someone cracks the 4 character code, they can have any website send the password or generate a new password to your email, which they now have access to. Having an option to set a password for any ipad program, such as the browser or email client, seems so basic, and so necessary.

Sorry - wasn't casting aspersions, and especially not to this community. Was just mentioning a fear I have
I didn't thinkt that you were - not at all - so no worries. I use the feedback feature when I feel the need. That's what it's there for!
If you are a gmail user you can delete your mail accounts under settings and install the gmail app. The gmail app lets you log out so you can allow someone else access to your iPad but they don't have access to your mail.
Boils down to Apple needs to add a users list to the iPad. They have multiple users in OSX now they need it in iOS. Maybe that will happen when they redo iTunes. My friend is in that same boat. Him and his wife share the same iPad and mail, bookmarks, etc get a little messy. JB it and you can do it with some apps, but that opens up another can of worms, less secure and depending on what apps can slow it down after a while.
I just had this question. Went to the "experts" and told I would either have to reset my device or just lock the pad up. Not an option, too many people using iPad to lock it. Reset, last option but do you really want to start reloading your information to everything including trying to remember what books you may have downloaded? Ok, your lucky day, I figured it had to be easier than people were telling me, here we go. Go to settings, tap the mail, contact, calendar icon. Next under accounts hit the middle bar that has your server listed, mine is gmail, tap, this will bring you to an option that says mail, all you have to do is hit off and your done! You will now have to sign in to check your mail but piece of mind is well worth it without having to delete anything, yeah!!!
You could set a restriction in the general settings. That way the mail app wouldn't appear at all, unless you go back into the settings and enter in the passcode to turn off the restrictions. A bit of a hassle, but it would work.
Well downloaded this App and it wasn't exactly what I wanted. It does however let you setup multiple email accounts behind a password login screen. But after that all it really seems to do is save you entering your username and password every time. Instead now you click on your setup accounts and it basically opens up as it does in your browser.
You need Internet connectivity to read your mail it seems. Files are downloadable, but when I moved them into a folder they no longer opened, moving them back and they opened OK.
I'll continue to give it a try, as it does make getting into my PRIVATE EMAIL accounts easy. But Is that worth $1.99 more time will tell.
Less technical way. If you go to settings>mail, contacts, calendar>click on the email account then toggle the green switch beside mail off it will not show mail in your email icon. Just remember to turn mail back on later 🙂

Check your mail from the browser and don't set up Apple Mail on the iPad.
