On iPhone there is an easy option to play podcasts at 2x... How do you do this on windows?

Thanks

🙂 Hi Phil. (We haven't talked in ages.)

Although you can't do it in iTunes, you can do it in the QuickTime Player.

In your iTunes library, right-click the podcast and select "Show in Windows Explorer". Open the podcast folder (if necessary), right-click the podcast file and select "Open with > QuickTime Player" (or "Open with > Choose Program ..." and select the QuickTime Player).

In the QuickTime Player, go "Window > Show A/V controls". You should get a range of playback speeds from 1/2x to 3x. (At least, that's what I got on the video podcast I tested it on.)

Hi b noir,

I've just tried an audio Podcast in Quick Time and the same playback speed options are there as well. However for the Podcast I chose, the speaker - person, not loud (pun intended!) - was a female with a strong French accent and wow, it was very difficult to understand her at double speed, even after adjusting the pitch control.

Still, the option is there for the OP.

🙂 My test was with an old "Ask a ninja" podcast ... equally incomprehensible ...

A bit of an oddity, and a bit clunky, but it's there if we need it. (This works for other content as well.) Perhaps the half-speed option might be more useful for folks doing transcriptions of stuff.
