Wow,
Have you ever used imovie? I started out with that little program and quickly came to the point where things were uneditable. To say that FCX is no different shows that you are either not looking into the prgram or your just reading blogs. I've worked with FC7, imovie, and now FCX. All great programs depending on your level and in some instances your age. However I would disagree with your statement that its "20x more" than imovie, another indicator you are embellishing a little 😉
Regardless, I was a little irritated that I couldnt import FC7 projects onto FCX, however that's why I still kept a copy of FC7. I will say that I spent a few days actually learning to use the new program and have to say that for most of the projects I do, it makes it easier. It took awhile to get use to functionality, but so did switching from PC to Mac.
And the common "older" man might not want to learn some of these things, but the younger generation is eating it up. I've seen teenagers editing better videos that people that have been in the business for 15 or 20 years due to resistance to change. I may not have a tone of experience in this, but I do know that FCX has a ton more to offer than imovie and is well worth the $300 to a creative mind in conjuction with motion.
